Rose Holman Learning Center
Third Baptist Church received a generous bequest to the children’s program from the estate of TBC member Rose Taborn Holman. Part of that bequest has allowed us to purchase 15 new Dell computers, with a wireless network, a server and several printers. They are used by our tutoring program, the YRead literacy/tutoring program that meets at Third Baptist twice a week, our Sunday school, Friendship International for English lessons and more. We have purchased educational software that focuses on improving our students' skills in reading and language arts.
The computers are on the fourth floor, in Room 403, and in a nearby computer lab. The large room and ten adjoining, small breakout rooms are now called the Rose Holman Learning Center. Before Christmas (2004), our custodial staff began clearing out the side rooms and preparing the main room and breakout rooms for painting.

A painting crew then went to work on the space. Ten TBC volunteers agreed to decorate each of the center's ten breakout rooms along themes that appeal to children, including outer space, wildlife and volcanoes and geology.
We are so grateful to Mrs. Holman and her family for this wonderful opportunity to use the latest in computer instruction in our children’s programs and to create a space that is attractive and appealing to children and volunteers alike. Here are some photos of the completed redecoration.
