3-B - Books, Basketball, Belonging

Third's tutoring program meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Rose Holman Learning Center on the fourth floor of the church.

Third Baptist is one of ten city churches serving as tutoring sites in an effort led by the Rockwood School District and its voluntary transfer program. The district's program provides homework and other academic help to city students who attend Rockwood schools in St. Louis County through the areawide desegregation program. When the students return to the city, homework help is available at churches nearby.

Our 3-B tutoring program is open to ALL students, not just those from the Rockwood district. Our students are from the region's public, charter and parochial schools. Tutors are volunteers, mainly students from nearby St. Louis University and church members. They help students with homework, reading, math and other skills. The learning center has a computer lab that is equipped with Orchard educational software and has Internet access. Another bonus: Basketball and other recreation at night's end!
